Some
of Darrel Tank’s earliest memories of art are drawing
pictures with his mother. She encouraged his creativity, which was
apparent even as a very small child.
While growing up, he often
spent his afternoons at the publishing house where his Father was
the head photographer. The work of the illustrators there particularly
facinated him, and he began to dream of pursuing a career in art.
He was able to accomplish that dream in the late seventies.
Darrel
has exhibited and received honors at numerous art shows with his
sensitive approach to portraiture. His photo-realistic style shows
remarkable attention to fine detail and captures the emotion of
the moment. His repertoire includes black and white pencil renderings,
color pencil, gouache, airbrush paintings and computer illustrations.
His work has earned Darrel the respect and admiration of both advertising,
editorial, and fine art directors throughout the country, with his
artwork being published in over 400 books, magazines, advertising,
and prints. Today, the award-winning artist resides in rural Idaho.
Darrel’s greatest reward comes from knowing that people have
been inspired and encouraged by his artwork. |
